On 6 May, the EU agreed on an AI Omnibus package to simplify the AI Act. We summarise the key points of the changes:
- Deadline extensions
High-risk AI systems (e.g. in the fields of employment or education) must only be fully compliant from 2 December 2027 (Annex III) or 2 August 2028 (Annex I) respectively. - New prohibition of AI-generated nudifications
The EU prohibits AI systems that generate sexually explicit or intimate content without consent.
The text of the legislation will be finalised in the coming weeks. The European Parliament and the Council must then formally adopt the political agreement before the amendments are published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
